A meeting of the International Technical Committee 56 “Road transport” was held concerning the draft of the first edition of the interstate standard GOST “Automobile vehicles. Pneumatic winter tyres, equipped with anti-skid spikes. Test method for assessing road pavement wear” on March 14, 2017. The draft standard was developed by the Central scientific research automobile and automotive engine institute NAMI in accordance with the National Standardization Program of the Russian Federation for 2016-2017.

During the meeting, members of the Tyre Manufacturers Association noted that most of the tyre manufacturers’ key comments on the developed method, such as the definition of granite, the need for normative wear, with which the tested tyres should be compared, and the definition of the “type of tyre” on which tyre selection principles for testing depend – remained unaccounted for by the developer, and the draft standard requires further development.
